Heavy Hearts is very proud to announce the release of a very special benefit project involving London’s finest, Role Models, and their charity single ‘This Eventually Leads Nowhere‘.

Rich from Role Models had this to say about the single and the cause:

“Rich Rags here. Just wanna tell ya a bit about the song. And why it was written.

When my son Zoli was diagnosed with autism I felt helpless. It was something I knew very little about, so I thought the worst. I tried to keep a brave face. And that exhausted me. So worried about him. As I worried and tried to learn about it, Zoli was growing to be an emotional, quite happy child. Who barely spoke. That inability to communicate his thoughts would send the lil’ guy into some serious spins of REAL frustration.

As Zoli began to communicate more and more, we would see that, though he may sometimes have a difficult time with how to describe his emotions, he definitely feels them. When he tells me he loves me and holds my gaze, my heart explodes. It’s a big emotion. Harder to say than the opposite. For most of us I think. I’m so proud that he’s come to grasps with it. That worry melts away a bit…

The lyrics are about the frustration of trying to communicate. From his point of view. Zoli has had input in it all.

“What do you like, Zoli?” “I like to ride the trains. But I gotta know where they go!”  Thanks buddy! What an opening line!

Written below is an explanation of where your money will go written by Julia Wilkins, Haringey Autism. It’s something my wife Justine had been helping with and got me involved. We go as a family so it’s near to our hearts. We’ve seen (and felt) how much it helps. Gives these kids a place where there’s some patience and their parents a place to share and relax. The purchases of this single will help fund it!

Every summer on Saturday mornings large numbers of autistic children in and around Haringey look forward to playing, climbing and bouncing in the bold imaginative adventure playground at Somerford Grove, London. They come with their families and siblings for somewhere to play without stress, without judgement and without criticism from others. Stressed parents have a chance to relax, to meet other parents, to borrow books about autism, and have a break with a coffee and croissants.

For eight years, Haringey Autism – a local parent-volunteer run branch of the National Autistic Society (www.autism.org.uk) – has provided this vital service for around 80 families. Every year we are told what a lifesaver the playground has been for families.

But for 2013 we need your help. Urgently.

Each download of this track (and whatever donation you choose to give) will help us raise the money for the summer adventure play sessions for children with autism.

It really will make all the difference!
